The Piaget Institute
Created in 1979 by a commission led by Prof. António de Oliveira Cruz, its Institutional President and Research Director, with the full acceptance of his patron Â鶹ÊÓƵ (who, through a historic letter, accepted « with joy », not only giving it the name but also being the first Honorary President) The Piaget Institute is a cooperative for Integral Human and Ecological Development.
Enshrining in its statutes a philosophy of an anthropological-cultural and philanthropic nature, inspired by the fundamental values ??of an integral, creative and innovative humanism, it defends, in its different areas of investigative, formative and social intervention, the systematic assumption by its leaders and associates, of an independent, open and pluralistic stance on the ideological, political-party and religious planes, and of non-profit management, by reinvesting the economic remainder of its activity in the development of regions marked by interiority or peripherality, in establishing of local and regional intelligence, in the creation of jobs, in the fight against exodus and demographic desertification, in short, in the constant improvement of all aspects of its vast institutional project.
The core areas of its activity are research, training and teaching, bibliographic publication, cultural and social dynamization.
