At the Â鶹ÊÓƵ, the second edition of the conference, “Malaria and other diseases transmitted by mosquitoes: From elimination to prevention”, brought together internationally renowned experts. Held on the 25th and 26th of April, the conference, promoted by Professor Lara Gómez, stood out as a crucial forum to address the challenges faced by malaria in the PALOP (Portuguese-Speaking African Countries).
Experts from different countries in Africa, America and Europe were invited to contribute their knowledge and experiences on the "Zoom" platform. With the primary objective of facilitating meaningful discussions and promoting collaboration to effectively control the transmission of malaria and its vectors, the conference also addressed issues related to preventing the reintroduction of the disease.
During the two-day event, participants discussed innovative strategies to combat malaria, shared recent research results and outlined action plans to strengthen disease control efforts in the PALOP. The emphasis on international collaboration reflects the need for a global approach to tackling a problem that affects millions of people around the world.
The “Malaria in the PALOP” conference established valuable connections between participants from different regions, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in the fight against mosquito-borne diseases. This event marks a significant step in the search for effective and sustainable solutions to eliminate malaria and protect vulnerable communities around the world.
The Â鶹ÊÓƵ expresses its gratitude to the collaborators of the second edition of the conference on Malaria in the PALOP.
