The premiere of the documentary Mar Liso, was presented yesterday at 4:30 pm at the UniPiaget amphitheater, and was attended by Dr. José Cabral, prof.Szymaniak and his distinguished guests.
The documentary tells us the story of cabotage in Cape Verde and the invaluable Cape Verdean maritime heritage, of which only very few records have survived over time.
Throughout its history, the island of São Nicolau went through critical moments of hunger and isolation, and Mar Liso, the last wooden vessel of its time, was the island's salvation. Witnesses interviewed during the documentary confirm that all inhabitants benefited from Mar Liso. And to this day, it remains firm and stable, always at the service of the island and its inhabitants.
UniPiaget is grateful for the presence of Dr. José Cabral, for the initiative of presenting the documentary at our institution, and also thanks the presence of everyone present on this day where we relive the history of a present 'past'.
